-Can I do cake AND ice cream? Cake and ice cream definitely. I’m not much of a cupcake girl. But cake and ice cream definitely

Va$htie’s Best Birthday Ever from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-The last birthday I had was really really fun. We all flew out to Vegas and stayed at the Wynn Hotel which is unreal. It’s like the most unreal hotel ever. It was my first time in Vegas and I had this giant suite the size of a loft in Soho. Like prime retail space. It was all for myself. Pretty scary but a lotta fun. I had a big party out there. Celebrated my birthday with really close friends. That was probably the best [birthday]

What Va$htie Always Wanted For Her Birthday from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-The one thing I always wanted for my birthday was a treehouse. I never got it and I still want a treehouse. I think that would be a lot of fun

Va$htie’s 4 Birthday Essentials from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-4 essentials for a dope birthday party. Great friends. Great music. An intimate setting…or not. And good cake and ice cream

Va$htie’s Best Birthday City? from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-I’m not hating on anywhere else but a New York birthday has to be IT

Va$htie’s 2009 Birthday Song? from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-The one song would have to be, and I’m so not that girl, like I really don’t know what’s current. Really don’t listen to the radio. But I love”Blame It On The Alcohol”. And if I hear that song on my birthday I’ll really have a great time

Downtown Sweetheart Dresses Up? from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-As you can see I dress like a dude. I dress like a country ass man all day long. So for my b’day I like to change it up and be a little bit more feminine.

Va$htie + $5 Million Birthday Gift = ??? from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-If I had $5 million dollars [for my birthday] I’d probably give some of it away of course to the needed, whoever that might be. But I’d probably take a vacation somewhere and bring all of my closest friends and family. Pay for it. Just have a good time, relax [and] hang out

What Does Va$htie Do When No One Is Looking? from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

-I like to grab the end of my shirt and rub on it. When I was little I had a blanket and it would calm me down. I sometimes do that as an adult

What Amina Isn’t Famous For

April 2nd, 2009 | Posted in Magazine, What They Aren't Famous For | 2 Comments

Who: Amina

What She’s Famous For: 1/2 of J Records’ Black Buddafly

What She Isn’t Famous For: Jogging in the rain ad sucking her thumb

5 things I need to have on me at all times? Don’t think there’s five. I’m very simple. All i need is my blackberry, my iPod, lip gloss and some cash. Then I’m good!

If I had a super power, it would definitely be flying. Maybe travel into the past. Not the future. I wouldn’t wanna know that. Second choice is to jump into anyone’s body to see how it feels. That would be fun! Also would love to have the power to shut some people up that talk to much! They make me sick!

In a movie about me I would wanna play myself! The actresses that I love don’t look like me at all

I’m obsessed with getting things done! Whatever it is. When i start something, I don’t stop until it’s finished. I’m also obsessed with jogging outside…even when it rains! It makes me feel free! Then I’m obsessed with ketchup!! Put it on everything! Black tea with milk and honey. Couldn’t live without it! I drink one in the morning and one at night. Starbucks, Coffee Bean or homemade coffee in between!

I love nature and animals. Although I’m scared of some but they still fascinate me. Love the sun. Love rain only when I don’t have to worry about my weave!

A song that describes my life is “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera. When I listen to that song, I feel like I wrote it. Every word suits my story or at least a recent part of my life! “Thank You For The Music” by ABBA and and “Something To Live For” by Carmen McRae

I always rather eat than sleep. Except for the morning when I’m real tired. I don’t care about anything but sleep then! I love German chocolate! Sweet potato fries with ketchup. Those are my two favorite foods

One of the most embarrassing things I do when no one’s looking is suck my thumb. I do it when I’m real comfortable. Over the years my left thumb has lost its print. I also pick my nose, spit freestyle rhymes, play out conversations with myself and imitate other people

The most overrated things I’ve ever experienced was sushi and The Dream

Love equals hurt. That’s all I got to say. I think my next tattoo is going to be that. “Love Hurts”

I do anything I want all the time. I feel like if you don’t, then you’re not living. Yes we got responsibilities but I live to do me. Everyone should

In Bed With Angela Yee

Who: Angela Yee

What She’s Famous For: Sirius XM Shade 45 morning show and she gives lip service so good she has the internet going crazy

What Angela Isn’t Famous For: Watch the video below

What Angela Yee IS Famous For from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.Interview by Nicole LoPresti

■I’m not famous for being a good drinker. There is this story in Vegas… but we still made our flight!

■I’m great at buying furniture. All my ex-boyfriends have asked me to help pick out furniture and then, once we break up, they can’t stop thinking about me… I’m in every room

■I used to DJ back in the day. Muggs gave me my first set of turn tables. Pete Rock gave me records to get started. Well, the reason I stopped doing it was because it was a hassle to drag records everywhere…Every now and then people will remember being at a party I DJ’d. I still get offers, too. You might see me at the opening Knicks game next year. Please don’t boo me. But, Knicks fans boo everything.

What Angela Yee Isn’t Famous For DJing from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.
■I’m a good teacher. I taught all the middle school kids how to give blow jobs when I was in high school, which I turned into a weekly show on Sirius, “Lip Service”.

■I love doing laundry. It’s not just a Chinese myth.

What Angela Yee Isn’t Famous For Stealing Swag from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

■Call me a matchmaker. I know so many people and a lot of dudes. I’m borderline a Madame. Except I don’t get paid.

■I make great weed brownies.

What Angela Yee Isn’t Famous For: “Jay-Z’s kind of a dick” from Thank God I’m Famous on Vimeo.

■Talking on the phone. Top 5? My brother, Nicole, Santi, Kyser, and Joie.

■ My shoe collection. I am very picky about my shoes. Only designer please.

■ What does love me to me? A four letter word. I guess I date like a dude.

What Wynter Isn’t Famous For

March 30th, 2009 | Posted in Magazine, What They Aren't Famous For | 6 Comments

Who: Wynter Gordon

What She’s Famous For: Singer on Atlantic Records, singing on Flo-Rida’s new single “Sugar”, writing Mary J Blige’s “Breakthrough”

What She’s Not Famous For: Being allergic to everything, love of classic 80’s movies,

Music makes the world go round. I can turn an ugly ride home on the train into a great time just by just listening to my iPod. I’m still using an old vintage iPod for those of you who have the touch

I can’t leave the house without a tube of Vaseline. I like gloss but Vaseline just works better for me

My Jesus necklace its become a third arm. You cant keep it from me

My bestie Miya always makes me laugh. She tells me the truth. I trust her with my life

If I were given a super power, it would be the ability to read minds. I’d change what people think like officer Matt Parkman on Heroes

The song that best describes my life: Miley Cyrus - The Climb

Love does not hurt. Love is there when you are sick, down and out. Love does not know ugly, fat or skinny. Love compromises. Love doesn’t want anything in return. Love doesn’t get revenge. Love is supernatural

The most overrated thing is being a single lady. Now don’t get me wrong: being a smart, educated, talented, beautiful, funny woman has its upsides. Plus kicking it with my girls is absolutely amazing! But there is nothing like being in love and having one person in your life that gets you. There is nothing like having no inhibitions with one person and letting it all hang out. Trying new things and learning things about yourself with your mate. There is nothing like the touch of someone you deeply care for

If I could wake up today and go anywhere it would Africa. Morocco, Congo, Egypt. Africa is a beautiful place. It’s where some of my ancestors are from. It’s a majestic royal land that’s full of secrets, rich in tradition and bountiful in history. I can’t really describe in words why I want go there. Too many reasons.

Would I rather sleep or eat? I would eat!!! I don’t get much sleep now but can’t sleep on an empty stomach. So if I could eat what I wanted, it would be your basic Thanksgiving dinner: ham, collards, potato salad, mac and cheese and cranberry sauce. I’m working up my appetite talking this way

If I woke up leader of the world, I’d travel the world for free. I’d takeover every radio station. End wars. Make billionaires give big sums of money to needy people. That ability makes life limitless

Every month it’s a different obsession. The Stephenie Meyer series that included Twilight was one. I’m also obsessed with skincare (since i wasn’t born with great skin I’m fixated on achieving it), Disney movies and old 80’s classics. Good stuff like The Neverending Story and Mac & Me that you can get lost in

I think Jurnee Smollett would best portray me in a movie. She has my quirkiness and is really down to earth. Maybe even Zoe Kravitz

My sinuses are always bothering me. I’m allergic to dander, dust pollen; you name it. So a nice pack of tissue can be useful

What Necole Bitchie Isn’t Famous For

March 24th, 2009 | Posted in Magazine, What They Aren't Famous For | 17 Comments

Who: Necole Bitchie

What She’s Famous For: Bitching, blogging, being an Atlanta socialite, profiling celebrity lives

What’s She Isn’t Famous For: Talking about herself

  • The most inspiring story I’ve heard is Tyler Perrys’. He relived it on his blog a few weeks ago. It taught me that with strength and faith, we can accomplish anything
  • [If I left Atlanta] I would go back to New York; the greatest place on earth. I miss the grind

  • I hate that my family, especially my parents, aren’t here to see the woman I’ve become. The things I’ve accomplish, the moves I’ve made…

“The Pursuit of Happyness best describes my life”

  • I would kill to have my grandmother cook her famous trout, mac-a-roni,  mash potatoes and yams just one more time. Haven’t had it since I was 10 years old. Still remember like it was yesterday.

  • Soaring to new heights. Oh wait…you meant that fly?
  • My biggest fear is dying without accomplishing the goals I set for myself.  Leaving the earth unfulfilled. I would like to be remembered as inspiring. Especially to the people who’ve come from environments where they are told ‘you can’t and won’t be anything‘. When I leave this earth, as long as I’ve inspired one person to take risks, have faith and help them believe that they can accomplish anything . Then my job will is done
  • What does love mean to me? When I find it I’ll let you know

  • Last request? Call me

What Tash Isn’t Famous For

March 23rd, 2009 | Posted in Magazine, What They Aren't Famous For | 2 Comments
Who: Tash
What Tash Is Famous For: Her music, modeling and a staple on the downtown NYC fashion scene
What Tash Isn’t Famous For: Her affinity for Paris, brownies and her blackberry
  • If I woke up tomorrow with $100 million in the bank, I’d sign myself.  Build a studio. Buy a loft. Buy a few Chanel handbags. Buy tons of other miscellaneous shit and then save the rest
  • I was told an inspiring story by Nile Rogers of the group Chic. We were discussing music, business, politics and Studio 54. Back then people just didn’t care what anyone thought. They were so free. Everything was built from passion and being fabulous. From that I’ve learned to just be me

  • -I’d go to Paris. I love they’re lifestyle, language, fashion and of course the scenery-I love that my family understands my career choices and are beyond supportive. I hate that they always make comments about my tattoos and my blackberry obsession
  • The best movie to describe my life is the Wizard of Oz. I am a big dreamer.  If someone were to play me in a movie, it’ll be Paula Patton
  • The best memories [of Washington Heights] were my parents house parties, my friends and Harlem School of the arts.

  • Mac & cheese, Pinot and a brownie

  • Fly is all in how you carry yourself. I don’t think it has anything to do with how you dress. Self confidence is key
  • Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, Shia Labeouf & Clive Owen
  • I want be remember for my personality. Also as a hard worker, thinker and a great friend. Inspirational to others and always trying to make people laugh

  • Love is caring wholeheartedly

What They’re Famous For: Blogging, Tastemaking, Fashinistos, Cool Hunting, Allegedly Ghostblogging

What They’re Not Famous For: Calalou, love of NYC and future  philanthropy work

If they had to leave their hometown…

MT: I would move to NYC right away. I love the spirit of New York. The raw astetics, culture and noise pollution. If NY would not have me I would be on the next pane smoking to Hong Kong

WY: There is no place like NYC so I can’t move. I can’t be kicked out. I won’t trade the world for it; born and raised in NYC since ‘83

Family…

MT: I love my family because they’re the hardest on me. They believe in me even when I make mistakes. They’ve accepted all the shit I’ve done over the years to them and others. My family loves me for who I am! I don’t hate my family at all. They may do things that bother or aggravate me but I love them just the same. I do hate though that we don’t spend enough time together.

WY: I love my family’s unconditional love and support. It’s priceless and irreplaceable. I sometimes hate the nagging but it’s probably in my best interest. I should probably use my two ears and listen.

Death and Legacy…

MT: I would want to be remembered as a person who always tried to be a better human being. Someone who always strove for a better life. I want to be remembered as a person who was positive, ambitious, courteous, kind and a friend.

WY:  Death reminds us to live our life to the fullest with no regrets whatsoever. If I died tomorrow, I want to be remembered for inspiring others to take risks and make their dreams come true. Dreams do come true if you make them. Don’t sleep; work for it. Sleep when your  dead. But until then, live your dreams.

Flyness

MT: Fly is when you feel like a million bucks with the outfit you’re wearing. Your confidence level is at its highest and your energy is spewing out of your clothes. Fly is rally about how you feel. Sometimes you get the compliment you’re looking for or maybe you don’t; but you still feel fly

WY: Fly is not necessary. Especially in an age where style is force fed to you through the internet. It’s over-hyped. Being fly doesn’t really matter. You can have all the coolest clothes, gadgets or whatever. If it doesn’t work on you, it doesn’t work. If you still fail to believe the truth and still think your fly, let me tell you something; Yeah you’re fly but your flying around dog shit!

Love…

MT: Love is a strong feeling and emotion you cannot help! You feel it in your bones and your heart. It shows up in your face and in your smile. Love means take care of the ones you love and have no hangups about it.

WY: Love means sacrifice. Love means giving it all. Love means connection. Love is raw. Love is different. Love is the same. Love is something you give and to get back love is an amazing thing.

Thespians

MT: Samuel L. Jackson. Denzel Washington. Al Pacino. Gene Hackman. Edward Norton.

WY: Leonardo Dicaprio. Will Smith. Bencio Del Toro. Marlon Brando. Johnny Depp.

Perfect Meal…

MT: In Trinidad around Christmas time eating oxtail, plaintain, sweet potatoes, macaroni pie, calalou, potato salad, chicken, provisions and drinking peartrax.

WY: The perfect meal is something light that tastes good but doesn’t completely fill you up. It makes you want more. The perfect meal is an appetizer.

If they woke up with $100 million…

MT:  First call my bank manager for some new checks so I can start paying some bills. The second call would be to my financial advisor and see how I can double this money. Third call to my folks so we can create a plan to pay off all their debt then invest in property and real estate for their retirement. Last cal to my twin brother, my crew and the love of my life. Tell them ‘Meet me at the airport and pack enough clothes for 6 months; we’re traveling around the world starting with Africa’. Upon my return, I donate $15 million dollars to charity and open up what I like to call “Genius Education Bars” around the hoods of Canada where high paid teachers educate the youth

WY: With money like that, I can change the world. Without money like that I can also change the world. Money don’t mean shit if you aren’t happy. True wealth is stealth, bragging ain’t necessary.

Last Request:

MT: Can they free DMX?!

WY: Yeah - can someone RT this?!
